There are many ways Action for Stammering Children can support your child’s education setting to become more aware and inclusive of stammering.
Empowering teaching staff to raise stammering awareness at school
We work with schools and education professionals to help them support the pupils they work with. Do let your child’s teachers know about our charity by sharing the following resources with them:
- Support for Schools webpages
- The Stammering Support Hub - there’s a dedicated section for schools
- Information about the ASC Stammer Awareness Toolkit
What is the Stammer Awareness Toolkit?
The ASC Stammer Awareness Toolkit is an interactive e-learning resource for schools throughout the UK, which has been created to support education staff in creating a supportive and inclusive environment for pupils who stammer.
By signing up to access the knowledge and support of the Toolkit, your child’s school can improve stammering awareness in the school community and play an important part in changing attitudes and reducing stigma which can be faced by children and young people who stammer.
Support your child to be an Ambassador
Should your child express an interest in helping to raise awareness of stammering across their school community, we are here to offer our support. Whether they’d like to give or help prepare a talk or presentation about stammering, perhaps during a lesson or assembly, or join their school council, we have information and resources ready to assist them.
Depending on their age, they might even like to volunteer to join the ASC Youth Panel...
